about

SING A SONG FIGHTER: This unique album really stands out. A one time live experience featuring a large chamber orchestra along with a pop band and in front of it all: the one and only Birgit Bidder!

"I Used To Dream" started as a project with liberating intentions and ended up as a life changer. A before and after, if you will.

This is Birgit's first and only existing compositions and arrangements for chamber orchestra and pop band.
Inspired by Penguin Café Orchestra, Neu!, Funk Brothers and Bernard Herrmann, among many of Birgit’s influences, the performance took place on the main stage at Södra Teatern in Stockholm.

- One of my goals was to make us musicians feel as alive and needed in the music as possible. To bring a smile to their faces and set myself free, says Birgit.

Just before the show was starting, sound engineer Nille Perned persuaded Birgit to record the music, and to not have it vanish into space which was Birgit’s first thought. Now, this one time moment of wonder is continuing to live on via this vinyl album being released by Sing a song fighter. Also via the series of podcast talks currently in production, concentrating on music and creativity. The podcast will feature inspiring people that Birgit have collaborated with during her wide musical background as an artist, producer, songwriter and live musician.

Right now Birgit is working as an opera singer in ”Eurydike" (where she sings several solo numbers based on Einstürzende Neubaten and Nico songs). The world premiere took place at Wermland Opera in Sweden on the 10th of March 2022.

"I Used To Dream" is Birgit Bidder's third album. The two previously released ones, "The Life Home" and "Space Travel", have been playing a lot on Swedish Radio. Under her artist aliases Annie Angel and Raketen she is known in Sweden as a musical force, playing and singing a wide range of musical styles with timeless being one of her big trademarks.

Sing a song fighter says - "Birgit Bidder stops time and space on this unique album recording that was only performed once. Vibrating with the thrill of life and love".

Swedish national paper SvD says - "Birgit Bidder has a very strong artistic expression. All of the music is written and arranged by Bidder, her music is symphonic in itself and not just through the arrangements. In several of the songs she builds up vocal layers, the music is varied, it stands on classic pop-rock-soul-ground and is still independent towards music history. "You Don’t Wanna Know" feels like a spot on hit with full power from the choir. ”I’m your kid” is a work of art with a sound collage of spoken voices".
